Institution: VIA University College Denmark
Year: 2nd sem.
Project: Industry of prefabrication

About the project

1700 square meter sports hall located South West of Aarhus. The building is constructed fully of prefabricated concrete and wooden panels. Center part of the building contains a sports hall of 507 square meters, two fitness rooms and a squash room. Left wing of the building consists of 4 changing rooms and a club room, right wing – a gathering area/canteen. The building is made to facilitate a sports and a Kommune center for the town of Grejs.

The floor plan reveals a thoughtful spatial organization, where every corner is meticulously crafted to serve its purpose—a vibrant sports hall, fitness rooms, squash courts, changing rooms, and a communal gathering space, all harmonized to create a hub for activity and community. The elevation reflects the building’s bold yet balanced presence, with prefabricated concrete and wood panels embodying a modern yet timeless aesthetic. Technical details come alive with precision—corner connections of prefabricated concrete panels showcase structural integrity and craftsmanship, while the vertical wall and roof parapet detail illustrates durability, insulation, and architectural finesse. Project South is more than a building—it’s a testament to how thoughtful design and engineering can create a meaningful space for people to connect and thrive.
